Authorities ID Man Shot By Deputies In Mount Shasta

The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office has identified a man who was hospitalized after being shot by deputies Tuesday morning. At around 10:30AM a man called 9-1-1 from Douglas Lane, located northwest of Mount Shasta City. He said his son, 19-year-old Jesse Macias was acting strangely and may have been experiencing a mental health episode. He also said he was armed with two large knives. Sheriff Jon Lopey says deputies tried to de-escalate the situation, but Macias assaulted one or more of them. Macias was shot by a deputy and a sergeant and was transported to Mercy Mount Shasta. He remains hospitalized and will apparently face charges upon his release. A multi-agency investigation is underway.
